Exact match first, then the same name on every extension you selected.

STEP 03

Go deeper, or keep watch

Open WHOIS or DNS from the result — or add the domain to Domain Monitor.

Not sure where to start? Run a real example and see the full result layout.

Naming

No name yet? Start with a generator

A blank page is the hardest part of naming. Each generator turns a keyword into a shortlist you can bring straight back here to check — free, no account.

The difference

Why this instead of a registrar search

The answer here comes from the registry, not from a checkout funnel.

We don't sell domains

No reason to push a pricier extension or an add-on you didn't ask for.

Straight from the registry

RDAP/WHOIS data rather than a cached list, so a name taken an hour ago isn't still shown as free.

Availability and records together

Jump from a taken result into its WHOIS or DNS without retyping the name somewhere else.

Honest about uncertainty

When a registry doesn't answer, the result says unconfirmed instead of guessing for you.

Extensions

Check the extensions people actually ask about

Each one runs against its own registry. Select an extension to add it to your search.

How to use a free domain name checker

A domain availability checker tells you whether a web address is already registered or still free to claim. Enter a name above and DomainsMesh queries registry data rather than a cached list, so the answer reflects the domain's status at the time of the check.

Availability and validity are different questions

A validity check determines whether a name follows the naming rules supported by the selected extension — permitted characters, length limits and, for internationalised names, the scripts that registry accepts. An availability check is separate: it confirms whether anyone has registered it yet. A name can be perfectly valid and still be taken.

Reading your results

Each search returns the exact match plus the same name on every extension you selected. A taken name is worth a WHOIS / RDAP check before you drop it — registrations lapse, and the record shows when this one is due. If you want to see where a name currently points, the DNS lookup reads its live records.

Choosing a name worth registering

Shorter names are easier to say aloud, type without error and fit on a business card. Avoid hyphens and numbers where you can — both cause confusion when someone reads your address out loud. Say a candidate name over the phone before you commit; if the other person has to ask how it is spelled, keep looking. And check the name is not already an established trademark in your industry: an available domain is not the same thing as a legally free name.

When you have no name in mind yet

Start from a keyword instead of a blank page. The domain name generator turns one word into prefixes, suffixes and blended variations; business and website name generators work the same way for a company or a project. Bring any shortlist back here to check what is actually free.

DomainsMesh is an independent domain tool, not a registrar, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any registrar. Availability results come from public registry data and are informational; always confirm at the point of registration.

Domain checking questions
